Susan says, “Is it art? Is it a political statement? Is a child’s playground? I love the ambiguity of Lucia’s photograph.  My belief is that it is a sculpture made of found objects that has turned a neighborhood front yard into a thought-provoking and funny art gallery. What stories might be prompted by this photo. What about the pressing need for self-expression? What about the need to be seen? What about giving life to the inner child? Something about a giraffe? This truly is a ‘once upon a time’ sort of photograph. It has all the making of a Grimm fairy tale.”

Lucia says, “I never know what I’ll come across while riding my bike around town. I enjoy seeing what people have done with their porches and yards. I often wonder about the story behind the sculptures, the flower arrangements, the bright or subtle colors making up the landscapes. This one, here, is a real poser. I love the ingenuity of this homemade bike and trailer and the added humor of its unlikely passenger. I’m with Susan on this one. The stories it evokes are endless. Of course, I laughed when I first saw it and made a quick u-turn to get back to capture the scene. This will definitely go into the folder of photos I call, ‘Portland unique’.”

What sort of story could you tell that would make use of this photograph. We found a lot of potential  buried in this odd ball image. What about you?
