What does this fabulously intricate set of gears do for your sense of story?
Susan says, ” There is so much to explore here in Lucia’s photograph. I am intrigued that it is virtually impossible to figure out which gear is the master: in charge of setting all the rest in motion. This is a wonderful example of the interconnectedness of things and of the complexity of relationships and hierarchy. This puzzle will keep little minds busy during a story about how one thing leads inevitably to another and the need to remember that for every action there an equal an opposite reaction. This would also be a great image to highlight the dangers of playing the Blame Game because ultimately no one can be said to be entirely responsible for any outcome here as they are “all in it together”. And did you notice, apropos of nothing at all, that one gear has wooden teeth (just like George Washington!). So many possibilities here with one great close up of a set of toothy gear wheels.”
Lucia says, “Well, nice metaphors from Susan. Here’s another: two elements (metal and wood) join together in a common cause. Let’s face it, we could go on and on. I’m sure you have some ideas. We’d like to hear them.”
What do you find to take home from this photo. The stories seem myriad.
