No doubt about it, candles are evocative. They connect us with our fear of the dark and our love of the light. As accustomed as we are to electric light which completely dispels the dark, a candle does little more than push the dark back into the corners. When a candle is the only light, the darkness is profound. There is a story here. Of stormy nights with power lost, of years past when candles were the only source of light, or of our potentially reckless future. No matter which story you choose to tell, the light of a candle connects to our primitive brains.
