Susan says, “It is hard not to personify this flower with the cheerful, hair-like yellow petals surrounding the dark face with its bright yellow starry freckles. The bowed head and collapsing petals are easily read as resulting from exhaustion or age. Despite the bright yellow and orange colors, there is a sadness here.”
Lucia says, “Like an old woman aging gracefully, this sunflower is just past its prime. Although it has seen better days, it still has a lot to give. Just look at its big heart and the beautiful colors in its petals.
