195 of Lucia’s Photo a Day Series

Lucia says: “Hmmm. Maybe this is a musician, who was walking home from an all night gig. He decides to sit in the town square for a while. The warm early morning sun and the sound of the waterfall lull him to sleep. Or maybe he’s just a guy taking a nap.”

Susan says: “Lucia’s photo is a lesson in contrast. First, the contrast between motion and stillness: The movement of the giant staircase going up, up, up, and the mini-steps of the waterfalls repeating the rising movement of the climbing stairs. The many waterfalls sluicing downward. And then to our sleeping man, static in slumber. I also see another difference between the orderliness of the manmade stone structures, perfect angles and lines, against the living, organic lines and angles of our of our splay-legged guy. The falling water lies somewhere between the two: the falls are strictly guided at their beginning and take their own organic form as they fall.”
