While riding in the back seat on a road trip with my family, I fell in love with this scene. The mesas forming the ridges half way up the photo caught my attention. I took several shots as the car sped along. I even had to wait until we passed a hill that blocked my view. I finally got the shot I was looking for and ended up with much more. Look at the bands of subtle colors and how their intensity changes with each layer. Although the sky looks grey, you can see tinges of orange and blue. The Rocky Mountains are in silhouette with a bluish cast. The mesas, which were the focus of my attention, are loaded with pinks and blues and purple. The foreground with its green shrubs looks different than anything else, but the dirt is orange – tying it too the orange tint in the sky.
