This morning I went out to capture the early spring leaves on the Black Tupelo tree in my backyard. In this photo, the leaves are a strong presence with a blurry background. I used a shallow depth of field to create that effect. The out of focus branches form a frame within a frame and create a setting for the foliage. I like that the bright green and red of the leaves are subtly repeated in the smeared background.
