With the sun still low on the horizon, I captured tall shadows of my dog and me. The texture in the sidewalk gives the photo a grainy look, which I like. Plus, at the top, the crack in the sidewalk on the right and the patch of grass on the other side frame the scene with an interesting shape. The fleeting appearance of my dog’s old, gray muzzle in the lower left corner finishes the framing. More importantly, her face adds a “real-life” layer to the shadows making them more compelling.
