When I first approached this antique miniature carousel, I thought of creating a photo that made it look life size. I had another idea when I noticed the mirrors in the background. I used a shallow depth of field to blur everything but the horse in the foreground. Then I positioned myself to capture my reflection in the mirror beyond the horse. It’s subtle and blurry, but if you look closely, you can see me with my camera up to my face as I captured this scene.
