Yesterday, I mentioned the drawings on the walls around the Albany Carousel Studio for the carvers to use as guides for their creations. It was amazing to see the precision of the sculptures in relations to the drawings. The room was a photographer’s dream to work with repetition. To give you a glimpse of that it was like, I chose this photo in which I used a shallow depth of field to capture a close-up of the dragon’s head with an out-of-focus drawing of its painted future in the background. I did take some shots with everything in focus, but I opted for this one for its mythical feel. I also like the upward angle and seeing the drawing through the dragon’s mouth.
