There are strong leading lines in this scene. The most obvious is the dominant, s-shaped curve created by the path and fence. On the right, the row of planters that form interlocking squares blend into the bare trees creating a repetition of the curved path. The pilings at the end of the leading lines create a nice division between the river and the shore. The scene was originally a monochromatic, sepia color. I chose to make it black and white because I felt it made the stronger impact.
