My objective in moving in for a close-up of this public art piece was to capture the reflections in the glass balls. The reflections of the buildings and clouds in the sky are cool. And to add to the coolness, we see reflections of other areas of the art piece. My favorite is the ball peeking in the right corner of the frame. I love the distorted reflection of the bowed building in the arc of the sphere. After looking at a photo more closely, I’m often pleasantly surprised by something not obvious to me at the time of the shoot. In this one, the gold decorations drizzled on the surface of the greenish colored ball is repeated by the vines growing on the structure. As with many compositions, I ended up with more than I imagined.
