This simple scene attracted me on several levels. It evokes the delightful sounds of children shouting, laughing, and even arguing over whose turn it is on the tire swing. Or it conjures up the creaky sound of the rope around the tree branch, as a solitary child enjoys swinging below. It’s also about shapes. The vertical lines of the rope repeat in the fence. And the curve of the tree echoes the arc of the almost perfect circle of the tire.
