There are many orchards in the Hood River Valley on the east side of Mt. Hood. My friend, Amy, and I spent a lovely day driving around what is known as the “fruit loop”. We saw dahlia fields, alpacas, fruit stands, and of course, orchards. Over the next few days, I’ll post a variety of photos from our trip. While touring the valley, one gets many views of the mountain. In this photo, I wanted to capture the orchards in its shadow, without actually seeing rows of trees. The haphazard piles of empty fruit crates depict a working farm. The muted colors make this look like an old photo, which, for me, tells the story of the growers in this valley for hundreds of years.
