For me, black and white, instead of color, is a good medium for this pastoral setting. I feel it makes the photo striking and compelling. The dark and light clouds in the sky, the dark trees juxtaposed with the light grass in the meadow, and the dark aging, rusted gate in the foreground create good contrast, which is an important element I look for when creating a black and white photo.
