Susan says: “This photo is one of the very best examples of the power of design to stop you dead in your tracks. Of course this design was created by man and nature coming together in a striking collision. The strong vertical and horizontal lines in the manmade sidewalk are disrupted and softened by the scattered rose petals blown by the wind from a nearby rose bush. One more breath of wind and this incredible image would be undone. Foreground and background work together with structure and color that make a painting of unearthly beauty.”
Lucia says: “I’d like to add that it was the simplicity of this scene that took my breath away. It’s both delicate and powerful at the same time. I love the contrast between the bright red petals and the gray sidewalk, accented by the dark, thick lines. This was a real find for me, because it gave me the opportunity to create a minimalist photo.”
