Great design is often just a quick concept that turns an idea on its head and makes us laugh.
Susan says, “Twitter and Instagram are full of full photos like this one. Clever photos that make you look twice. This simple concept was put together quickly and with little effort. Its sole purpose was to be clever: Dotz spelled out in chocolate dots. Humor is a great icebreaker in presentations. It puts your audience at ease. Can you think of ways to use a humorous design in your presentations?”
Lucia says, “How about a little background on this photo? This was part of a challenge to capture photos of curves, dots, lines, etc. For my ‘dots’ I decided to produce some. I chose a yellow background to create a duotone of very close colors. Since I was using chocolate chips, I thought about spelling out ‘cocoa’. I decided on ‘dotz’ instead, because I thought it would fulfill the photography challenge better. Either way, it was fun to do. I’m glad Susan thought it clever and humorous. That’s what I was hoping to accomplish with this simple design.”
