This is an extremely simple photograph that packs a lot of power.

Susan says,”There is so much going on in this simple photograph. We are treated with a host of shapes: circles, rectangles, points, lines – all working harmoniously together. The color palette is wonderful, too: grey, silver, tan, yellow and green. The mixing of man-made objects with natural elements adds to the interest. A terrific photo to study for ideas in your own designs.”

Lucia says, “One of my favorite things to photograph is an extreme close up with a shallow depth of field. Here I thought I was filling the frame with a simple structure and blurry background to create a simple quasi-duotone of browns and greens. It pleases me that Susan saw so much intricacy in this photo. She exposed another layer to this ‘simple’ scene. Which leads me to add that this small intricate design repeated over and over created a large beautifully designed curved bridge along the Banks-Vernonia Bike Path. It adds a lovely esthetic to the ride as bicyclists pedal along the trail – proving the importance of design to lift our spirits.”
