There are lots of design ideas in this festive, holiday photo.

Susan says, “The winter holidays are the time for lights. Maybe you have one of those light-crazy neighbors whose house is sagging under the weight of thousands of colored lights and awash with inflatables. What I like about this light display is its simplicity: just one color, a gorgeous yellow-white, but used with great precision to pick out the architectural details of the building. There is not a reindeer or an inflated Santa anywhere. And thanks for the serendipity of the solid blue glass walled building behind this handsome building to provide a quick lesson in perspective and contrast.”

Lucia says, ” ‘Keep it simple’, ‘move in close to you subject’, ‘less is more’ – these are mantras I live by as a photographer. There were many elements to choose from while composing this photo. Most of them were cluttered and messy. I decided to look up and using my telephoto lens I moved in to create a simple, uncomplicated composition. And now, Susan did a thorough job a describing my intention with this photo. Nice job, Susan.”
