Susan says, “When Lucia showed me this photo, at a first I dismissed it. Two shadows, ho hum. But then she said, ‘Look in the lower left corner’. Whoa. This photo came alive for me in an instant. Here was the dog and the dog’s shadow together in such a way that perspective was thrown out the window. The source of the shadow was hidden in the photograph, If you have a photo that contains a secret like this one does, you can make hay from it by reminding your audience that by looking carefully we can see wonderful things. The story here is: haste makes waste. Don’t you think?”

Lucia says, “It was tricky to capture my shadow, my dog’s shadow and her gray muzzle in the corner. So everything is a little off kilter in this photo. Add to that the angle of the shadows created by the early morning sunlight. I love this wacky perspective. I purposely kept my dog’s face small in the frame to add the element of surprise. I wanted to give the observant viewer a bit of a chuckle.”
