Let’s end the workweek with an appreciation of how light can transform a simple flower.
Every spring a jumbled row of these flowers appear along my fence. I’m always delightfully surprised to see them. Some are blue and some are white, but all of them are surrounded by a spindly corona of green. They make me think of a meteor streaking through the sky.
Light Makes all the Difference
Here, the white flower stands out from the blurry flowers in the background. That alone would have been appealing, but the afternoon sunlight adds a theatrical spotlight to let the modest white flower take center stage. This is an excellent example of how light playing on a subject can turn a simple scene into something magical.
