What a Difference a Little Rain Makes.

Side view of rose and raindrops use to urge taking time to enjoy. It’s the end of the workweek and again I’m using ‘Foto Friday” to urge you to take the time to get outside to experience the rejuvenating powers of nature. While taking my own advice, imagine my delight when I noticed what light rain had done to this beautiful rose. Lucky me. I didn’t have to go far to appreciate this beauty. This rose grows in my front yard.

What Different Perspectives Can Reveal

An important practice in photography is to look at things from different angles. Not only do you get a chance to see more of a subject, but also to see it in different contexts. In the first photo, we see the rose from the side and the way it stands out from the dark background. I especially like the lighting here. It makes the rose look as if it were lit from within. And the raindrops capture the light to add a magical glow to the rose.

I have to admit, I like the composition of the first photo better, but this one reveals the raindrops on the edges of the petals. Who would have thought that raindrops could land in such perfect precision to add a crystal-like decoration to an already beautiful rose?

I can tell you that seeing this perfect combination of rain and rose was awe-inspiring. You never know what you’ll find out there. Even a short stroll around your yard might reveal some pleasant surprises. So get out and ‘smell the roses’.
