In the days when I used film, I would spend many hours in a darkroom passing light through negatives and playing with solutions to create different effects. Now, in the digital world my computer is my darkroom, which allows me to have a lot of fun manipulating photos. For this week’s “Foto Friday” you’ll see the results of a playful session with effects. Obviously, the original photo of alders is in the top/left. In the black and white version to the right of it, I brought out the blacks. On the other hand, I brought out the whites in the next b&w photo (bottom/left) to make it look like a winter scene. The last photo is the most painterly of the group in which I added a dream-like blurriness to a sepia tone. For me, each interpretation has its own strength evoking a unique feeling. What do you think of these? Do you have a preference? Let me know. I’d love to hear from you.
