Dahlias come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Believe it or not, this is the edge of one. I wanted to capture the dew on the petals and got a lot more. Using a wide aperture, I moved in to create an extreme close-up of a small section of the flower keeping the background blurry. This is where things got interesting. The sharp shift in the background from red to dark green made the flame-like petals pop. The dew on the petals were simply another layer on this magical image.
