Sandhill crane fly overhead through fog.

This week I decided to show you another photo I made while on my outing at the wetlands. (Remember the kestrel from last week?) Here, I  present you with a photo of sandhill cranes flying directly overhead through the fog. What I like about this is that it’s monochromatic. The cranes are almost ghosts in the scene. And, of course, I like the simplicity. Since there’s no reference point, you can’t tell the size of these magnificent birds. They are huge, with a wingspan of over 6ft. (2 meters). I wish this were accompanied with audio and you could hear the marvelous sound these birds make. By the way, did you know that a couple of the collective nouns for cranes are ‘a dance of cranes’ or ‘swoop of cranes’?
