A photograph that’s created with intent tells a story.

Wedding scene for perspective of bridal party table tells a story.

The wedding feast is over, the speeches have been delivered and now the dancing begins. The room is filled with joy and good wishes for the happy couple.

Looking at the table after the bridal party hit the dance floor, I saw my opportunity to create a story with a distinctive point of view. Sure I could have taken a photo earlier with the bride and groom at the table surrounded by their supporting cast and everything perfectly staged. That would have been a nice, typical wedding photo – nothing wrong with it, just a snapshot of a moment, but not a story.

Does this Photo Tell an Engaging Story?

It’s not easy to create a visual story with a single frame, but I think this photo does the trick. It’s engaging and creates a sense of place without being too obvious. My intention was to pull people in and allow them to fill in the rest of the story with their own experience and emotion. Does this photo fill my intent? What do you see here? What story does it tell you? How does it make you feel?
