Less is more when it comes to minimalism.
I wasn’t sure about posting this photo. What is there to see? A couple of birds on a wire don’t say a lot. But is this true? For some reason, I couldn’t get this photo out of my mind. I kept coming back to it drawn to the simplicity of the scene. IT moved me, but wasn’t sure why. Maybe, it was just a reminder to keep it simple. It’s one of my mantras when out shooting, which I may have forgotten until I remembered making this photo. Here, two lines split the area and the tree on the right draws your eye in toward the birds, all against a gray sky. Not much there, but I do believe it creates an opening for all sorts of ideas that could kickoff of a lively discussion.
On the Other hand – Made Me Think of a Song
I have to admit and maybe this seems corny and pretty obvious, but this photo may me think of the Leonard Cohen song, ‘Bird on a Wire’ (which is not corny).
Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Do you feel free when you look at this photo? Does the simple scene move you? Does something else come to mind for you?
