Happy May Day! Today, back by popular demand, I am starting a new year-long series of photos. Unlike the “Photo a Day” series, this one will be weekly, called “Foto Friday”. So, for the next 52 weeks with some bonus photos popping up between Fridays, I plan to share some of my photography experiences with you. I hope you’ll join me on this new journey. To start, I decided on a simple scene that was more complicated to capture than it seems. I spent quite a bit of time looking at it from many angles and trying different framings. Sometimes, I included a small window by the door and others I pulled back to show the foliage in the foreground. This was my favorite composition. I love the deep colors and how the shadows add an organic layer over the geometric shapes. Afterwards, my good friend, Amy, noticed how the shadow on the top creates an uneven edge. I was so engrossed by the other shadows that I missed it entirely. The uneven edge does create an unexpected element to the frame. Good spotting, Amy.
