We’ve all heard that we should use stories in our presentations. But knowing we should, doesn’t tell us how.
Susan says, ” There is a story in this photo. I suspect that many years from now this young girl will remember this moment. She is experiencing the birth of new life inches from cows who are experiencing it right along with her. While we don’t all have seminal childhood moments like this, we have our own moments that were meaningful and changed something about how we experienced and saw the world. These stories are the ones that can alter our relationship with our audience, building trust and understanding far beyond those contained in graphs or charts.”
Lucia says, “You can use a photo to talk about looking at it from different perspectives. Susan talked about the memorable moment for the girl. How about looking at this from the cows’ points of view. They know the girl. She’s a human on the farm. They trust her. Yet they encircle her to keep a close eye on her with the calf. Maybe this way of looking at the photo could add a little humor to your presentation.”
