Spend a few minutes looking at this photograph and you are bound to ask “why”?

Susan says, ” I wonder why? That is the question I asked when I saw this photo. Someone has worked hard to pin those vibrant translucent colored squares to the fence. But is it intended as art? Sure could be.  Is it the work of fun-loving children? A school project maybe? Is it merely odd leftovers put to a whimsical use? No matter why it was created, there is a story here. This photo is a story prompt. At a meta level you might use it to illustrate a story about curiosity. It might be a story about making something pretty from something inherently ugly (there isn’t much beauty in a chain link fence, after all). It might be a story about the creativity of children. What do you see?”

Lucia says, “Are these strips of color intended merely to obscure the view of the empty lot? I don’t think so. I see this as street art that charms passers-by with something to enjoy and appreciate. It’s not something grand, it’s just simple and whimsical. It makes a subtle impact on those who walk by it. Maybe the story here is about quiet influence as opposed to grand gestures.”
